Good Shots : These are a couple photos that I must have taken by accident and came out OK.
-two shots, one including myself, of my 1955 Moto Rumi on Skyline Drive in Northern California. Shot in Spring 2004. For the Shot of myself I just propped the camera on the reflector in the middle of the road and set the timer!
- A shot of the inside of the Pantheon in Rome, May 2004.
- The instruments on my 1966 Mach 1 Ducati.
- The gas tank of my 1955 Moto Rumi

Camera Test : This gallery is a comparison of shots with my old and new cameras; a 3.2MP ultracompact camera and a 7MP compact super zoom camera. The first shot of every pair is taken with a Canon PowerShot SD200 (3.2 megapixels). The second shot of each pair is from a Panasonic DMC-FZ8 (7 megapixels). Both camera's were in fully automatic mode. Some shots were done twice, with and without flash. Most of the shots are without any zoom.
At the end, I took a couple shots with full zoom on each (3x for the SD200 and 12x for the FZ8).
I note that the resolution of the FZ8 is more than double the SD200, but the effective useful resolution advantage is much less than that! The FZ8 resolution advantage is not good enough to reveal more detail in most of the shots even when examining at the pixel level.
Interestingly, the dark shots without the flash come out brighter (longer exposure) with the FZ8, but with more blur. The image stabilization and larger lens may help, but the dark shots don't really come out "better", just brighter but blurrier.
The real advantage of the FZ8 seems to be it's much stronger flash and the obvious great zoom capability with image stabilization. And it has easy access to many functions, that properly used may much improve the pictures.

The filename under each photo also identifies the camera and you can get all the photo info by mousing over the pic and selecting "photo info".
